View source for A Realistic Timeline For AI Visibility Results

What the First Ninety Days Usually Look Like Most engagements open with a visibility audit rather than a content plan. There is no point writing anything until you know which prompts matter, which assistants answer them badly, and who is being named instead of you.

The emphasis is on being included in a generated response, whether or not you are cited by name and whether or not it produces a click. The term appeared in academic work before agencies adopted it, which gives it slightly firmer footing than the alternatives.

That sequence typically takes a few weeks per source, and the effect on answers follows once enough of the recurring sources agree with each other. This is the phase where identity work begins to pay, and it is slower than people expect because it depends on other people's publishing schedules.

Read the Source List Before Anything Else Sort the cited domains by frequency. In most categories a handful of pages account for a large share of citations, and they are rarely brand sites. Review platforms, industry directories, a couple of forum threads and one or two comparison articles usually dominate.

The discipline is in how you report their output. Every one of them samples: their own prompt set, their own infrastructure, their own run frequency. Their number is an estimate from a particular vantage point, not a count of what happened.

Publish the Pages Assistants Reach For Certain formats get quoted far more than others because they answer a question directly and can be lifted without distortion. Comparison pages, alternatives pages, definitional explainers, specification tables and honest pricing pages all fall into this group.

That emphasis is worth watching, since retrieval is where most current influence actually lies. A proposal built primarily on getting into training data is describing a slower and far less controllable mechanism than one built on being retrievable now.

Run each prompt at least three times. Assistants vary their answers between runs, and a single result is a sample rather than a finding. Record the full text of each answer and every source cited, not a summary.

Run each one across the assistants your customers use, and write down the answers verbatim. Do this from a signed out session so your own history does not colour the result. What you want at the end is a simple table: which prompts named you, which named competitors, and which sources got cited.

Keep the raw text of every answer, not just a tally. Six months in, the archive is the most useful thing you own, because it lets you see exactly when a competitor entered the shortlist, which source appeared alongside them, and whether your own description shifted from something a marketer wrote to something a customer would recognise. A score with no working behind it cannot tell you any of that. ai seo services

Set those checkpoints at the start. An engagement without agreed intermediate measures gets judged entirely on the final one, which arrives too late to act on and encourages everyone involved to keep reporting motion instead of progress. ai seo services

If your category still gets meaningful traffic from those, a proposal scoped only to assistants will leave that work undone. Conversely, if somebody proposes an answer engine optimization programme and delivers only snippet optimisation, they are working on the older half of the definition.

The truthful answer is that different parts of the work move at very different speeds, and knowing which is which lets you judge an engagement at the right moment instead of the convenient one. [https://www.88pianists.com/ ai seo services]

Where It Diverges Sharply Traditional SEO optimises for a ranked list. Generative systems optimise for a synthesised answer, and the sources they pull from are not the same set. Ahrefs studied 15,000 long-tail prompts across four assistants in July 2025 and found that around 80 percent of the pages cited did not rank anywhere for the original query, with only about 12 percent appearing in the top ten. Ranking first does not reserve you a seat.

The second divergence is that third party sources carry unusual weight. Review sites, directories, forum threads, comparison articles and press coverage are frequently what an assistant quotes when asked about a category. Your own site is one voice among many, and often not the loudest.

One more consideration is timing. The cost of entering this channel rises as categories fill up, in the same way that search did between 2005 and 2015. A category with two mediocre comparison articles is cheap to influence today and will not be in three years, once somebody has built the definitive resource and every assistant has settled on quoting it. ai seo services

One to Three Months: Listings and Corrections Claiming a directory profile, correcting an address, fixing a miscategorisation and responding to reviews all take effect once the platform publishes the change and the page is re-crawled.

One thing that reliably compresses the timeline is starting the slow work first. Outreach and coverage take months regardless of what else is happening, so beginning them in week one rather than month four moves the whole programme forward by a quarter at no additional cost. Most plans do the opposite, sequencing the slow work last because it is the least certain.
